Since we are slow, here is some more E-Type content. As some of you may have read there is a beautifully beaten up !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! I want. Well dwelling on the fact that I can’t afford it, I have been drawing up my idea for the beater car’s transformation into a daily racer.
My drawing
Yes, the bumpers have been deleted, the doors welded shut and handles shaved, 2 3-1 side pipes, race filler cap, full roll cage, number circles, steelies, fender flares, rivets, leather safety straps, and unseen the Le Mans lights up front.
My inspiration
I’d take the approach of a Series 3 lightweight that’d had been negated and beaten because E-Type values never went up. What do you think?
Any way I offered the !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! my 928 as trade. After some exceptional back and forth between us, they declined. But I am happy to say they took my offer seriously and handled the situation well.

I for one always appreciate E-Type content of any sort, with the exception of when somebody puts a SBC in one.

Like this abomination ?! NO! Every XKE should have a multiple of 6 cylinders.
Picture this; V12, 6 2 barrel weber sidedrafts, Twin turbos connected to a custom blow through carb hat, high lift cam, and dual 6 to 2 sidepipes. Turn the key, warm it up, blast down a B road on a drizzly day.

if there was anything other than an e-type on the other end of a 928 trade, i would have been very disappointed.

But the bumpers make the Series 3 look good

I’ll say one thing for that ‘65, buying a lumped Jag is a great way to get into an earlier car at a price you can afford. I mean if that’s still a 6 cylinder in that car it’s still a $40k car, and I’ll bet you could have a 4.2 back in it for $5k.
I’m always pro-modified Jags as long as they’re Jag powered, and that sounds awesome. Back when I had my XJ12, I nearly bought a S1 SWB XJ6 to go with it. I was going to strip it, convert it to a stick, open the exhaust, and just do it up like a vintage race car.

What about a 928, xbox360 with a broken controller, a jar with $37.58 in change, and a Steak and Shake coupon book?

Maybe the chrome bits, the safety bumpers would be pulled off before I left the dealer.

Fair enough. That is a very good price for an E-Type. I wouldn’t mind a V8 powered one till I built the ultimate Jag motor for it.

Ask them to throw in 3 gallons of assorted house paint.

Exactly. I mean I’d be super embarrassed about it, but if I knew I was building a big six for it I’d be okay.
Fun story, back in the day my grandfather entered the XJ12 that would later become my XJ12 in a Jaguar show, and a lump actually won the class he was in. He was really pissed because the car was gaudy and gross, so he and my grandmother hopped in the XJ12 to leave. The organizers had to stop him on the way out because he had won best in show, which is why he didn’t win the class. He still wasn’t happy about it.

I would be embarrassed as sin, but I’d enjoy it.
Ha ha ha, that is really funny. I could see someone getting mad at that.
I wouldn’t mind a XJS-V12 convert, but I really want my next car to be pre smog cause CA. So only ‘75 and older.
